SOFT & DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Soft and deep tissue massage is used in 99% of the cases we see here at MySportsTherapist. With the ability to relax sore, stiff and tight muscles, this treatment method has many different techniques to it. There is also a relaxation response which is where your heart and breathing rate slow, your blood pressure goes down, your production of stress hormones decreases, and your muscles relax. The relaxation response increases the available level of serotonin, which is a chemical in the body that positively affects emotions and thoughts.

SOFT & DEEP TISSUE VIBRATION MASSAGE

The Hypervolt is a cordless state-of-the-art vibration massage device that relaxes sore stiff muscles, increases blood circulation and range of motion, and improves the overall health of the body's soft tissue. This device is also excellent for treating those specific trigger point areas that we often call "knots".

DRY NEEDLING - SIMILAR TO ACUPUNCTURE

Dry needling is administered exactly like acupuncture. The only difference between the two is the location of where the needle is placed and the beliefs behind why it works. Dry needling is a western approach, where needles would be placed based on anatomy. Acupuncture is derived from ancient Chinese medicine, and places needles based on meridian channels and where they feel energy is being blocked based on the location of your pain. Dry needling has been scientifically proven with randomised controlled trials to reduce pain levels in musculoskeletal conditions.

post op rehab.jpg

PRE/POST-OP PHYSICAL THERAPY

Rehabilitation is recommended even before surgery, but especially after it. Following a rehabilitation plan before surgery gives yourself the best chances of full recovery, as you are strengthening all the surrounding muscles, tendons and ligaments giving yourself the best possible chance for optimal recovery. Post-operative rehabilitation is even more important. Whether it be after a knee or hip replacement, a tailored rehab program will be designed for you to help regain your strength and balance and get you back doing the things you love.

REHABILITATION

Rehabilitation is what we specialise in. Following injury, once the healing process is in full swing, strengthening specific structures is crucial. Depending on whether you want to return to a sport or just back to every day life, will depend on how intense and advanced the exercises get. If the muscles are not rehabilitated correctly to cope with the demands  you want to ask of it, re-occurrence of the same injury will continue to happen. With the equipment we have, rehab work is often part of the session here, followed by some homework for you to do at home.

VISUAL POSTURE SCREENING

We take 4 photographs of you in 4 different positions. Let our software do the magic and we then have a visual analysis of your posture and what we need to correct. No more relying on what we see with our eyes, we can gain precise visual evidence with this software, helping both the therapist and patient.

TAPING

Kinesio taping is mainly used in sports. Runners, athletes, and footballers swear by it. The science behind it indicates that the tape creates a lift off effect, taking any unnecessary pressure off the muscle that is taped. We also tape joints following a ligament sprain if needed to avoid any excessive movement in that area.
